Oregon: Finding Home & Personal Transformation

ABOUT ME …

Professionally and professionally, I like telling stories. I think deeply and write about things I’m passionate about. Professionally, I tell stories to illuminate and engage. Personally, writing is therapy.

I am shaped by many things – my family, my career, my home and friends, the many(!) books I read, and my kids. My son experiences epilepsy, autism and ID/DD, and as anyone who has faced a significant diagnosis knows, a significant diagnosis changes you. It’s changed me. And every day I try to make it for the better

We moved to Oregon in 2011 from Missouri, and the PNW is a home we never want to leave. Mountains, valleys, rugged coastlines, towering trees and Pinot Noir that makes the rest of the world a little jealous combine to make this my little heaven on Earth. And this self-proclaimed city girl has even developed a love of camping.

I’ve also been fortunate to find a home at Oregon State University, where I lead a team of three professionals plus some amazing students who truly give me hope for the future. I also serve on the board of Home Life, which provides services for disabled adults, and I manage the Dementia Warriors website and have discovered a passion for non-profits.

All of these experiences make me “me.” Communicator. Mom. Nature lover. Volunteer. Leader. Advocate for health equity and those in need.

I fell in love with Oregon in my early 20s, and it called me back every day for 16 years – until I finally returned. Isn’t she a beauty?
